Hurricane Harvey devastated Texas, and now Hurricane Irma is headed for Florida. With many Americans facing tough times, Taylor Chevrolet and the City of Taylor are partnering to raise money for the American Red Cross during a September 14 "Cruze in for a Cause" event. The event is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. The dealership is located at 13801 Telegraph Road.
Cruze for a Cause usually directly benefits local emergency responders like police and fire departments, but Taylor Chevrolet General Manager Mark Montante and Mayor Rick Sollars agreed that any funds raised in this year's event would be best used by an organization like the Red Cross, given the problems many people are facing because of natural disasters.
The planning for the event is underway. Members of the Taylor Police and Taylor Fire departments will be in attendance, along with selected vehicles.
There will be plenty of fun during the "Cruze." CBS 98.7 AMP Radio will be on site, along with Krystal, the Taylor Chevrolet Girl.
Food, beverages and ice cream are also planned, along with a raffle for a television.
The suggested donation will be $5 per person, but the "Cruze" will welcome any and all contributions.
Taylor Chevrolet employees will be seeking people to take the "Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers Safe Driver's Pledge."
The pledge involves:
According to the Michigan State Police, there were 7,516 crashes in 2015 alone involving distracted drivers. Taylor Chevy is hoping that the "pledge" helps alleviate that problem.
Taylor Chevrolet is also a sponsor of the Rockin' Music Country Festival, scheduled for September 8-9 in Heritage Park, and staffers will be there getting attendees to sign the "pledge."
