JLWS banners among new signage planned on Telegraph Road

More new banners are planned for Telegraph Road, including one devoted to the annual Junior League World Series, which kicks off with opening ceremonies on August 12.

The City of Taylor earlier installed new banners across Goddard Road, alternating between "City of Taylor" and "Taylor Farmer's Market" signage. In addition, American flags have been hung along Goddard.

The latest line of banners continues Mayor Rick Sollars' efforts to localize and modernize the content of the street banners. Too often in the past, they have been of the generic variety and lack local appeal.

The JLWS banners will be hung before this year's 37th version of the international tournament begins at Heritage Park. Opening ceremonies, including fireworks, are planned for 8 p.m. Saturday, August 12. Games will begin on August 13 and run through August 20, when the world championship game will pit the winners of the International and USA brackets. That game will be televised by ESPN.

Other banners that residents will see in the future include a Welcome to Taylor featuring the iCare Taylor logo; Welcome to Taylor featuring a fireworks motif; and a winter Season's Greeting-style banner.
