The resurfacing of Pelham Road, from Ecorse to Wick, will begin on Monday, June 26.
Wayne County has contracted with Ajax Paving Industries to resurface that area of Pelham, in cooperation with the cities of Allen Park and Taylor. Traffic will be diverted into one lane in both directions while the other lanes are being worked on.
The existing asphalt surface will be milled off, the existing road base stabilized, and concrete base repairs made. Drainage and utility structures will be repaired and adjusted. Sidewalks and crosswalks will be replaced and improved in areas. Then the road surface will receive two layers of new asphalt. This work will last approximately 10 weeks.
Access to all businesses and residents on Pelham from Ecorse to Wick will be maintained during the project. Intersecting streets will be worked on one half at a time. Following the resurfacing, landscaping, restoration and clean-up will be performed and are scheduled to be completed by September 1.
